I want to write about the stigma of addiction. Addicts and substance misusers are in pain and they are numbing. How many of us numb; we drink to numb, we over work, we may be addicted to food, chocolate, sex, shopping. Why are we numbing? We need to ask that question on a global level as well as a personal level.
In therapy we explore where our pain comes from. What does the addiction bring to us and what pain is it numbing. We explore shame and vulnerability in a sensitive, empathic and safe space.
Please do not hesitate to get help. There is no shame in addiction.
